“Cabeça Fora D’Água” é o novo álbum de Isabella Bretz e Rodrigo Lana. O disco conta com 10 faixas que tratam diferentes temáticas que trazem inquietação para as pessoas, buscando ser um conforto ou simplesmente abrir um espaço de diálogo sobre estes temas. O álbum conta com vozes convidadas: a cantora e compositora tcheca Markéta Irglová (em Respiro), a bielorrussa Katerina L’Dokova (em Sentido) e o mineiro Renato Enoch (em 30 de Fevereiro). Além deles, participam os instrumentistas Alexandre da Mata (violões e guitarras), Kezo Nogueira (trompete), Léo Pires (bateria), Lucas Teles (violões), Pablo Maia (baixo) e Vanilce Peixoto (cello). O projeto gráfico e as ilustrações foram feitos por Renato Enoch, que também é designer. O universo visual do disco busca traduzir as muitas camadas de sons, sentimentos e significados: o tempo, as marcas e faltas da vida adulta, a consciência do que se pode receber e entregar, a cabeça atenta, o desejo de acalento, a resistência para não ceder ao sufoco, a linha dos ancestrais. Assim, a identidade estética se dá através de sua iconografia. Com uma série de ilustrações e “símbolos perdidos”, nasce uma mitologia própria. “Cabeça Fora D’Água” is the new album by Isabella Bretz and Rodrigo Lana. It has 10 tracks that deal with different themes that bring concern to people, seeking to be a comfort or simply open a space for dialogue on these themes. The album features guest vocals: Czech singer-songwriter Markéta Irglová (in Respiro), Belarusian Katerina L’Dokova (in Sentido) and Renato Enoch from Minas Gerais (in 30 de Fevereiro). In addition to them, we had instrumentalists Alexandre da Mata (guitars and guitars), Kezo Nogueira (trumpet), Léo Pires (drums), Lucas Teles (guitars), Pablo Maia (bass) and Vanilce Peixoto (cello). The graphic design and illustrations were done by Renato Enoch, who is also a designer. The album’s visual universe seeks to translate the many layers of sounds, feelings and meanings: time, the marks and faults of adult life, the awareness of what one can receive and deliver, an attentive mind, the desire to cherish, the resistance to not giving in to suffocation, the line of ancestors. Thus, the aesthetic identity is given through its iconography. With a series of illustrations and “lost symbols”, a mythology of its own is born. Explorando o que é pequeno, delicado e sutil, o trio Isabella Bretz, Rodrigo Lana e Jackson Abacatu propõe o resgate da simplicidade e do encantamento, quase como um descanso. Nesse contexto, o álbum “pequenezas” vem, com 16 minicanções, traduzir artisticamente reflexões sobre a vida, comportamentos, situações e, certamente, devaneios. O álbum foi lançado com um livro ilustrado de poesias, de mesmo nome.
Exploring what is small, delicate and subtle, the trio Isabella Bretz, Rodrigo Lana and Jackson Abacatu rescue simplicity and enchantment, almost like a rest. In this context “pequenezas” (smallities) arrives, with 16 mini-songs, artistically translating things about life, habits, customs and, certainly, dreams. The album was released with an illustrated poetry book, with the same name.
“Retalho de Mundo” é o terceiro álbum de Isabella Bretz. Assim como em outros trabalhos, ela canta sobre o ser humano em suas questões individuais e coletivas. Ao longo das 10 faixas, todas composições dela (duas em parceria), vários temas são apresentados em forma de histórias e sons: um rio que teme a morte ao se aproximar do oceano (O Rio e o Medo); uma cidade que entra em guerra porque todos os seus cidadãos competem para ver quem sofre mais, quem é mais sugado pela sociedade, com um fim inesperado (A Revolta); o paradoxo entre sermos seres tão pequenos nesse universo e, ainda assim, infinitos (Faísca de pó); os conflitos da relação de pais e filhos em meio ao amor, proteção e busca por liberdade (Oferenda); a completa rede de pensamentos que se forma em nossas mentes em várias camadas, por vezes nos fazendo querer desligá-la (Alguém me ensina); o desprendimento da realidade, em alguns momentos necessário (Devaneio) e mais. O projeto contou com a participação de mais de 30 profissionais e foi viabilizado pela Operação Escambo, campanha criada por Isabella.
“Retalho de Mundo” is the third album by Isabella Bretz. As in other works, she sings about the human being in his individual and collective questions. Throughout the 10 tracks, all written by her (two in partnership), different themes are presented in the form of stories and sounds: a river that fears death when approaching the ocean (The River and The Fear); a city that goes to war because all its citizens compete to see who suffers the most, who is most sucked into society, with an unexpected end (The Revolt); the paradox between being so small in this universe and yet infinite (Spark of Dust); conflicts in the relationship of parents and children in the midst of love, protection and the search for freedom (Offering); the complete network of thoughts that is formed in our minds in several layers, sometimes making us want to turn it off (Someone Teach Me); the detachment from reality, sometimes necessary (Daydream) and more. The project had the participation of more than 30 professionals and was made possible by Barter Operation, a campaign created by Isabella.
“Novas Distâncias: Reykjavík” é um EP de Isabella Bretz e Rodrigo Lana. O trabalho é um desdobramento do projeto “Canções Para Abreviar Distâncias” e foi gravado no Masterkey Studios, na Islândia. Em maio de 2018 os artistas estiveram no local para apresentar o projeto de Isabella, que além de trabalhar o estreitamento de laços na lusofonia também leva um pouco de casa para quem está longe. Na ocasião da passagem pelo país regravaram em piano e voz três das faixas do disco: Na Hora de Pôr a Mesa (poema de José Luís Peixoto – Portugal), O Cercado (poema de Ana Paula Tavares – Angola) e Transitório (poema de Conceição Lima – São Tomé e Príncipe). O áudio foi gravado por Sturla Mio Pórisson e mixado por Rodrigo Lana. A capa é de Jackson Abacatu.
“New Distances: Reykjavík” is an EP by Isabella Bretz and Rodrigo Lana. The work is an offshoot of the project “Songs To Shorten Distances” and was recorded at Masterkey Studios, Iceland. In May 2018 the artists were there to present Isabella’s project, which aimes to create closer ties in lusophony and also bring a little bit of home to those who are far. On the occasion of the country’s visit, they recorded three of the tracks on the record: “Na Hora de Pôr a Mesa” (poem by José Luís Peixoto – Portugal), O Cercado (poem by Ana Paula Tavares – Angola) and Transitório (poem by Coceição Lima – Sao Tome and Principe). The audio was recorded by Sturla Mio Pórisson and mixed by Rodrigo Lana. The cover is by Jackson Abacatu.
“Canções Para Abreviar Distâncias: uma viagem pela língua portuguesa” traz 8 poemas musicados, cada um de um país falante do português, sendo todos de escritores vivos: Adélia Prado (Brasil), José Luís Peixoto (Portugal), Mia Couto, (Moçambique), Conceição Lima (São Tomé e Príncipe), Vera Duarte Pina (Cabo Verde), Odete Semedo (Guiné-Bissau) Ana Paula Tavares (Angola) e Crisódio T. Araújo (Timor-Leste). Produzido por Isabella Bretz e Rodrigo Lana e co-produzido por Matheus Félix em parceria com o Música Mundi, o projeto recebeu o apoio institucional da Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa (CPLP). A capa foi feita por Jackson Abacatu e 8 artistas brasileiros representaram os textos em ilustrações. Assim, com palavras, imagens e sons, em meio a distâncias geográficas e temporais, a linguagem se faz um grande vínculo, mostrando anseios comuns que nos unem.
“Songs To Shorten Distances: a journey through the Portuguese language” brings 8 poems put into music, each from a Portuguese-speaking country, all of them by living writers: Adélia Prado (Brazil), José Luís Peixoto (Portugal), Mia Couto (Mozambique), Conceição Lima (Sao Tome and Principe), Vera Duarte Pina (Cape Verde), Odete Semedo (Guinea-Bissau) Ana Paula Tavares (Angola) and Crisódio T. Araújo (Timor-Leste). Produced by Isabella Bretz and Rodrigo Lana and co-produced by Matheus Félix in partnership with Música Mundi, the project received institutional support from the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP). The album cover was done by Jackson Abacatu and 8 Brazilian artists represented the texts in illustrations. Thus, with words, images and sounds, amid geographic and temporal distances, language becomes a great bond, showing common yearnings that unite us.
Seu primeiro disco foi lançado no fim de 2012 e Isabella assina as 12 faixas, a produção, grande parte dos arranjos e a arte gráfica. Foi, portanto, um trabalho feito de forma bem pessoal, dando vazão à sua criatividade e desenvolvendo novas habilidades. Gravado e distribuído de forma independente, já foi adquirido por pessoas de diferentes países. A faixa título, embora escrita em inglês, explica o que é esse sentimento – sem tradução em outras línguas – tão presente em poesias, músicas e nas nossas vidas: “Saudade”. O álbum toca diferentes situações e sentimentos, expressando assim a inconstância do ser humano.
Her first album was released at the end of 2012 and Isabella signs the 12 tracks, the production, most of the arrangements and the graphic art. It was, therefore, done in a very personal way, giving vent to her creativity and developing new skills. Recorded and distributed independently, it has already been purchased by people from different countries. The title track, although written in English, explains what is this feeling – with no translation into other languages – so present in poetry, music and in our lives: “Saudade”. The album talks about different situations and sentiments, expressing thus the fickleness of human beings.
